Eastertide at Asbury First

Asbury First Music Directors

David Klement

klement.jpgDirector of Music, holds a BM in Voice Performance from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music and Masters of Music in Choral Conducting from the Eastman School of Music. He was the recipient of the Candlyn Head Chorister Award and is a graduate of the internationally acclaimed St. Thomas Boy's Choir School, New York City. Before joining Asbury First in 1995 he held positions at Dartmouth College, Albany Academy for Girls, Lake Avenue Baptist Church and several church positions in the Midwest. In addition to his full-time duties at Asbury First, David is also the Founder and Artistic Director of the 30-member Rochester Boys Choir now celebrating its 6th Anniversary Season.

Roger Wilhelm

wilhelm.jpgSanctuary Choir Director, is now in his 26th year at Asbury First. He holds a DMA in Conducting from Stanford University. He has taught at Kendall College, the University of North Dakota and the University of Rochester's Eastman School of Music. In 2006 he was awarded recognition by the Arts and Cultural Council of Greater Rochester for his 20 years of service as Music Director of the Rochester Oratorio Society. Currently, Wilhelm conducts the Rochester chamber choir MADRIGALIA.

Brian Bohrer

bohrer.jpgYouth Music Director, has also been a soloist and section leader at Asbury First since September 2000. He holds a Bachelor of Music in Education and Vocal Performance from Ithaca College and a Master of Music in Performance and Literature from the Eastman School of Music. He has taught music in the Rush-Henrietta Central School District since 2001, and currently directs three choirs at the Ninth Grade Academy and Senior High School. He is originally from Greece, NY and has been featured soloist with many local groups including the Greece Choral Society, Irondequoit Chorale, Opera Rochester, and the Rochester Opera Factory. He and his wife Melissa are proud members of Asbury First, and look forward to raising their son Charlie in the church.

Laurie Kennedy

Asbury First Orchestra Director, holds a BA in cello performance from the University of Mississippi and an MM in music education from the University of Michigan. She currently performs as the Principal cellist in the Penfield Symphony and has a private studio in her home.
