In selecting Asbury First, you are choosing a Christian service and asking for God's blessing upon your decision to be united as husband and wife. Your wedding is a sacred occasion. It seeks God's blessing upon the building of a relationship and a home. The pastors and staff are always ready to help in whatever way they are able to make your wedding one of spiritual significance and much happiness.

Your wedding is a statement about your relationship and the meaning of marriage for you. There are certain formalities based upon religious traditions, custom, beauty, sentiment and convenience.

The United Methodist Church has a ritual for the celebration of marriage. It may be followed exactly or modified to meet your personal requirements. It is also possible to write a service which is uniquely your own. This process of planning and writing requires considerable time and much planning should be done in conjunction with a member of the pastoral staff.

In the selection of a pastor to officiate, you may request any one of the regularly appointed pastoral staff. This request will be honored dependent upon the availability of a particular pastor. If no preference is expressed, the pastoral staff will determine the officiating pastor.

Asbury First United Methodist Church and its pastoral staff are pleased to share its ministries and sanctuary with you. For centuries the church community has served as the framework within which the marriage covenant is shaped and enriched. We invite you, therefore, to make church attendance and participation in church programs part of your marriage lifestyle and relationship.
